Finally Tried Acquolina: Worth the Wait About a year or more ago, in the dog park, a fellow dog owner told me that her partner was the co-owner of Acquolina in North Beach, San Francisco. I admitted to her that I am a longtime North Beach resident and have walked past the place many times but have never eaten there. She shared a little bit about the history of the place and the food they serve and encouraged me to try the place. It took me a long time, but we finally had lunch/brunch today. We started with an Americano to awaken our senses! Then we decided to share a Heirloom Caprese and Bufalina pizza. Before I tell you about the food, I want to mention that the staff at Acquolina are wonderful. From the young man who seated us and the young lady who took our orders to the servers who brought us our food and cleared our table, everyone was friendly and smiled. The place is a beautiful space on the corner of Stockton and Union Streets, with windows facing Washington Square Park on one side and Union on the other. They have a bar at the far end with a combination of regular and high tables inside. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather, but the interior decoration was beautiful and inviting. As I said, we were having a light lunch/brunch, so sharing was the word of the day. The Heirloom Caprese had freshly sliced heirloom tomatoes and big chunks of delicious mozzarella cheese. The olive oil on it was perfect! Bufalina is a basic pizza with Italian mozzarella, tomato sauce, and fresh basil, but we asked for Italian ham added to it. The pie was divided into six flavorful slices. The crust was perfect! We debated whether we should have dessert, but my waist size ruled against it, so we called it a day. But we will be back there to try their other dishes, that is for sure!

My whole family loves this place! From the kids to the adults, no complaints about the delicious food. Attentive staff, great location to have a stroll after dinner or lunch, and lovely ambience. Get the table side pasta for an interactive dining experience.

Went to the North Beach Festival on Sunday (6/16) and found Acquolina wasn't too busy. We got a table inside which wasn't busy at all. Everyone was outside because it was a beautiful day. We started with the "Bruschetta Al Pomodoro". The chopped Roma tomatoes were so fresh and overall the Bruschetta was really good. We also got the "Deliziosa" pizza. It was big enough for the 2 of us to share and not be hungry afterwards. Very impressed by food that we got. I will be back and try the other dishes and another pizza for sure.
